Agave Aplanata.
The Agave Aplanata is a very showy, medium sized agave and makes a wonderful and attractive architectural centrepiece. Stiff, fleshy upright leaves wider at their base, becoming longer with age are a striking silvery-glaucous grey in colour forming close symmetrical rosettes. Each leaf has a beautiful and unique imprinted pattern on its surfaces left by the teeth of the following leaves. The marginal teeth themselves are hook-like being dark brown to black in colour with the terminal spine being a dark reddish colour maturing to a silver-grey. After flowering usually between the ages of 15-25 years old the main plant dies but this will be replaced by one of the many offsets produced.
Easy to grow but slow, great for exotic gardens, but be mindful of where to plant because of the sharp terminal spines.
