Butia Paraguayensis. Dwarf Butia Palm.
The Butia Paraguayensis is a rare and beautiful dwarf Butia species. Slow growing it reaches a maximum of 2m on maturity. Large elegant silver-green to blue-green, slightly recurving pinnate leaves gives this palm it's stunning, graceful look. Petioles are spineless. Usually forms a subterranean trunk altough there is great variability with some specimens forming trunks above the ground.
This palm can look a lot like Butia Capitata until mature, is very cold hardy, wind and drought tolerant. A great addition to any tropical garden, large or small.

Native to: North Argentina, Paraguay, Southern Brazil.
Hardiness: Down to -9 or lower.
Growth Characteristics: Graceful and slightly recurved silver-green to bluish-green pinnate leaves. Solitary trunk either subterranean or above ground. Slow growing. Mature height around 2m only. Easy to grow. Wind and drought tolerant.
Sunlight: Full/partial sun.
Exposure: Exposed/Sheltered.
Soil: Fast draining soil.
Moisture: Water regularly during active growing season. Do not over water.
