Caryota Maxima 'Himalaya'. Fishtail Palm.
The Caryota Maxima 'Himalaya' is a really beautiful palm and the most cold tolerant of all the Fishtail palms. A large palm when mature, it has a dense crown of long leaves with dark green fish tail shaped leaflets which droop giving a tumbling effect. A solitary palm, its long smooth upright trunk is ringed with slender widely spaced leaf scars in mature specimens and is topped with a long smooth crownshaft. This attractive looking palm is great for growing in greenhouses, bright conservatories or atriums.
