Citrus X Paradisi. Grapefruit Trees. 

The Citrus X Paradisi, commonly known as the Grapefruit Tree is a hybrid cross of the Pomelo and Sweet Orange. It produces good sized quality yellow skinned fruit with light yellowish flesh and lots of amazingly flavoured tart juice perfect for breakfast time. A productive and evergreen green tree it looks great as an ornamental too, glossy dark green leaves, with beautifully scented large white blossom it is great for growing in containers on a patio, or in conservatories, as well as in your garden. This tree is self-fertile. All our Lemon Trees are handpicked by ourselves to ensure great quality.  

Citrus trees instantly bring a piece of the Mediterranean to your garden. Grown in a sunny, sheltered position they will produce crops of delicious sweet fruits even in the UK, with only basic maintenance.

  • Latin Name: Citrus x Paradisi'.

    Common Name: Grapefruit Tree.

    Origin: Barbados.

    Hardiness: Better kept frost free. Can be grown outside in Spring and Summer but will need bringing inside during Winter. 

    Growth: A vigorous and productive evergreen tree with glossy green leaves and delicious, sharp tasting fruit with lots of juice and yellow flesh. Fragrant large white blossom. Self fertile.

    Sun: Full sun.

    Exposure: Sheltered.

    Flowering Season: Late Spring into Summer.

    Soil: Free draining.

    Moisture: Water freely in summer. Do not waterlog. Less in winter.

    Feeding: Feed a balanced liquid feed such as 'Citrus Focus' every 2 weeks through summer.

    Pruning: Minimal pruning just to reshape around February/March time.
