Cleistocactus Strausii Cacti. Silver Torch Cactus.
The Cleistocactus Strausii Cactus is a very striking columnar variety of cacti which can eventually branch. Characterized by several slender grey-green columns which look silver-grey because of the short whitish spines completely covering them. Each stem has around 25 narrow ribs and each of the small areoles along the ribs carry between 20-30, 2cm thin white spines together with 4 stouter pale yellow-brown ones up to 5cm in length.

Older plants in summer produce deep red-burgundy  coloured tubular shaped flowers, up to 6cms  which protrude horizontally from the columns.

This plant had gained The Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. Perfect for Cacti enthusiasts. Very difficult to find for sale at this size in the UK.
