Cyathea Australis Tree Ferns.

The Cyathea Australis Tree Fern also known as the RoughTree Fern or Australian Tree Fern is amazing and one of the most exotic looking tree ferns, native to Australia. It's thick trunk is densely clothed with matted fibrous roots and is very slow growing around 2cm a year. In contrast its amazing lush green pinnately divided fronds spring from the crown in a rosette, growing incredibly quickly, given enough water and Tree Fern Feed. Unlike the Dicksonia Antarctica it is more adaptable to a variety of climates and soil, even being tolerant of salty winds and exposure to more direct sunlight. Probably the easiest Cyathea to grow altough not quite as hardy as the Dicksonia. Trunk hardy down to around  -7/8 degrees for short periods, but it will need protection in prolonged winter freezing. The fronds are less hardy similar to the Dicksonia Antarctica. In winter protect the crown with handful of straw to prevent snow and ice settling. Wrap the trunk and fronds with layers of fleece.
