Eriobotrya Coppertone. Coppertone Loquat Trees

The Eriobotrya Coppertone Tree, more commonly known as the Coppertone Loquat brings a tropical look to any garden all year round. Evergreen, it is mostly grown for it's foliage in the UK with huge and impressive dark green oval shaped leathery leaves, velvety on the undersides and deeply veined.  The emerging new growth produced in April/May has a beautiful coppery tint giving an attractive contrast against the older dark leaves. In some milder areas after a hot summer it can produce clusters of very fragrant pink flowers in Autumn/Winter followed by edible fruit which ripen in spring and early summer. Very easy to grow and tolerant of salt and urban pollution, so perfect for city gardens and coastal ones too.
