The Ficus Elastica 'Belize', more commonly known as the Pink Rubber Plant is native to India and Indonesia but in the UK is grown as a very stylish and modern looking houseplant. A relatively new variation 'Belize' has large, broad oval leaves in striking glossy tones of pink, cream and green. Newly emerging leaves are more vibrantly coloured but this fades slightly as they mature.
One of the most effective plants for filtering and purifying air, this very 'trendy' plant is a great for providing a focal point in either office or home. Easy to care for, liking bright indirect light but coping relatively well with lower light conditions and even withstanding a certain amount of neglect. May be placed outside during summer. Please be aware the sap can be an irritant.

Latin Name: Ficus Elastica 'Belize'.
Common Name: Pink Rubber Plant. Indian Rubber Plant 'Belize'. Rubber Plant 'Belize'. Rubber Fig 'Belize'.
Origin: India and Indonesia.
Hardiness: Protect from frost and drafts.
Growth Characteristics: Evergreen tree. Large oval shaped glossy leaves with leathery texture. Striking rose-tinted variegated leaves. Easy to care for. Turn plant regularly to avoid it leaning towards light source. Air purifying plant.
Sunlight: Bright indirect light. Can cope with lower light conditions.
Exposure: Indoor Houseplant.
Soil: Rich. Well drained soil.
Moisture: Keep moist but do not overwater. Allow top inch of soil to dry before re-watering. Mist leaves occasionally. Wipe leaves with a damp sponge or cloth to keep foliage glossy.
Feeding: Feed once a month through summer with a half strength liquid feed.
