The Ficus Lyrata more commonly known as the Fiddle-Leaf Fig is native to the rainforests of Western Africa but in the UK is grown as a very sculptural and modern looking houseplant. Large elegant glossy dark green leaves resembling the shape of a 'fiddle' have a leathery texture with prominent veins and wavy margins.
Easy to care for, these plants bring a piece of the jungle indoors and help with air purification. May be placed outside during summer. Please be aware the sap is an irritant.

Common Name: Fiddle-Leaf Fig, Banjo Fig.
Origin: Lowland rainforests of Western Africa.
Hardiness: Protect from frost and drafts.
Growth Characteristics: Evergreen tree. Large glossy green leaves with leathery texture, prominent veins and wavy margin. Easy to care for. Turn plant regularly to avoid it leaning towards light source.
Sunlight: Bright indirect light.
Exposure: Indoor Houseplant.
Soil: Rich. Well drained soil.
Moisture: Water regularly through the growing season, less in winter. Mist regularly. Allow top inch of soil to dry before re-watering
Feeding: Feed once a month through summer with a half strength liquid feed.
