The Carpinus Betulus commonly known as European Hornbeam is ideal for growing and training onto a frame as a pleached tree giving an elegant dense screen providing great privacy and an excellent windbreak to any areas of the garden, courtyard or city garden without taking up a great amount of floor space. The long oval shaped leaves are a bright glossy green in colour with prominent ribs. In Springtime delicate catkins appear. Although the Hornbeam is deciduous it does retain its leaves late into the season and provides a beautiful display of colour as the leaves turn to a golden yellow.
Very easy to grow and maintain, these attractive and ornamental trees are tough and completely hardy.

Growth Characteristics: Deciduos tree but holds its leaves late into the season. Dense glossy bright green leaves with prominent ribs. Leaves turn a golden yellow before falling. Easy to grow. Low maintenance. Wind resistant.
