Papaya Trees. Carica Papaya.

The Papaya Tree is a decorative fruit bearing tree. which can begin fruit production before the end of it's first year of age. Following trumpet shaped scented yellow-white flowers, usually opening at night, the papaya develops. The ripe fruit can be roundish or oblong in shape with deep yellow flesh although some varieties can have orange or red. Along the walls of the central cavity are numerous black seeds. Perfect as an ornamental too, with large palmate shaped leaves having 7 deep lobes spirally arranged around the stem. Grows well in a sunny sheltered location in summer and bring in through winter or just place in a  bright conservatory. To produce fruit plenty of bright light and warmth is needed.
