The Parodia Magnifica Cactus also known as Eriocactus Magnificus is a very ornamental, easy to grow variety of cacti where the young specimens are more globose in form becoming more cylindrical as they mature. Solitary to begin with, in time they form large clustering mounds. Each bluish-green glaucous coloured stem has a slight depression in the crown and between 11-15 straight, symmetrical and very pronounced ribs densley covered in pale yellow-golden thin flexible spines along their margins.Shiny, brilliant yellow coloured flowers, funnel shaped, appear from the tops of the crown in early summer. If conditions are warm they can flower several times through the growing season. Listed as 'Endangered' in habitat this beautiful and striking cactus is perfect for Cacti enthusiasts. Very difficult to find for sale at this size in the UK.

Origin: Southern Brazil. Paraguay. Uruguay. Argentina.
Hardiness: Frost tender. Keep above freezing.
Growth Characteristics: Very showy Cactus bluish-green in colour. solitary, clumping with age. 11-15 acute ribs with bristle-like thin, flexible spines yellow-golden in colour and between 8-20mm long. Brilliant yellow coloured flowers 7-15cm in diameter appear in summer. small pink fruit. Relatively fast growing.
Sun: Full sun/partial shade.
Exposure: Sheltered.
Soil: Fast draining soil. Gritty.
Moisture: Water during growing season. Keep dry in winter.
Feeding: Use a balanced liquid cacti fertilizer at half strength in Spring.
