Phyllostachys Viridiglaucescens. Green Glaucous Bamboo.
Phyllostachys Viridiglaucescens or Green Glaucous Bamboo is a very tall, graceful and attractive bamboo. Tall, strong, dark green canes mature to become a yellow-green colour and can reach up to 8m. Broad lush green leaves have glaucous undersides being up to 7 inches in length. Great for providing both a visual and a sound barrier in the shape of a hedge as they are quite wind tolerant and hardy down to -20 degrees. Alternatively they look great as a single specimen plant.
Although the Golden Bamboo is classed as a spreading bamboo in hot climates it usually behaves itself better in the UK climate and is more clump forming. A Bamboo Barrier can be used too.
