The Schefflera Actinophylla more commonly known as the Umbrella Tree is native to the rainforests of Australia and New Guinea but in the UK is grown as a very oranmental and decorative houseplant. Usually multi-trunked it has bright green palmate leaves made up of between 7-16 individual leaflets radiating out in an umbrella-like fashion. Flowers rarely appear on indoor plants.
Easy to care for, these plants bring a piece of the jungle indoors.

Common Name: Australian Umbrella Tree, Queensland Umbrella Tree, Octopus Tree, Australian Ivy Plant, Amate.
Origin: Australia, New Guinea and Java.
Hardiness: Protect from frost and draughts.
Growth Characteristics: Evergreen tree. Usually multi-trunked. Bright green palmate leaves made up of 7-16 individual leaflets. Easy to care for.
Sunlight: Bright spot, but can tolerate a shady one.
Exposure: Indoor Houseplant.
Soil: Rich. Well drained soil.
Moisture: Water regularly through the growing season, less in winter. Mist occasionally. Do not let sit in water.
Feeding: Feed once a month through summer with a liquid feed.
